Representative (China) Georgia Ports Authority (GPA)

Capt. Charles You has served as the Representative of Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) in China since 2008, overseeing the Port of Savannah / Brunswick’s Customers and Sales activities. Prior to joining the GPA, Capt. You served as Deputy Managing Director of Wilhelmsen Huayang Shipping Service Co., Ltd from 2004 to 2008. Before working here, he was appointed by China Maritime Service Center, a division under the Maritime Safety Administration, Ministry of Transportation, as Fleet Captain between 2003 and 2004.  Further to this, before working for the China Maritime Service Center, Capt. You served 10 years as Ship Officer and 7 years as Ship Captain in Cosco Crew Manning. He has worked as Captain of VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) and Trainee Captain of Star Cruise Ships in a “Chinese crew takeover” project. 

Established in 1945 by an act of the Georgia state legislature, the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) helps foster international trade and new industry for state and local communities. GPA develops, maintains and operates ocean and inland river ports within Georgia and also promotes Georgia's agricultural, industrial and natural resources, as well as maintains the natural quality of the environment. Port of Savannah is the No. 3 busiest container gateway in North America, whilst Port of Brunswick is No.2 busiest RO-RO port in the nation.
