Opened in 1861, Yantai Port is located on the northern tip of Shandong Peninsula at the Bohai Bay estuary, a key Belt and Road node connecting Japan, the ROK and Europe. As one of the four core ports of Shandong Port Group, it comprises port clusters including Zhifu Bay, West Port, Longkou, Penglai and Laizhou. In 2025, its cargo throughput hit over 482 million tonnes, ranking 8th in China and 10th globally among coastal ports.

As northern China’s breakbulk logistics hub and Shandong Port’s breakbulk base, Yantai Port chairs the Breakbulk International Logistics Branch of China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing. Equipped with 35 breakbulk berths (34 above 10,000 DWT plus 2 dedicated offshore equipment berths), 9.72 million m² of storage yards and heavy-lift cranes up to 500 tonnes, it handles heavy cargo up to 500 tonnes and wind turbine blades with round-the-clock operations for vessels up to 200,000 DWT.

Yantai Port runs 36 global breakbulk routes covering Asia, Africa, Americas and Europe, with over 200 cargo types and 35 monthly sailings. Its 2025 breakbulk liner volume exceeded 16 million tonnes. It is China’s top port for Africa trade, the northern hub for Southeast Asia breakbulk and the key home port for offshore wind power in North China.
