Opened in 1861, Yantai Port lies at the northern tip of the Shandong Peninsula, guarding the Bohai Bay estuary near major international shipping lanes, and is a key node on the "Belt and Road" New Eurasian Land Bridge linking Japan and the ROK to Europe. As one of the four core ports of Shandong Port Group, it forms a modern port cluster centered on the Zhifu Bay, West Port, Longkou, Penglai and Laizhou Port Areas. In 2025 its cargo throughput exceeded 482 million tonnes, ranking 8th among China’s coastal ports and 10th among the world’s coastal ports.
Breakbulk Hub
Yantai Port is China’s northern breakbulk logistics hub and the Shandong Port breakbulk base, serving as chair unit of the Breakbulk International Logistics Branch of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing. Committed to building a professional, all-purpose breakbulk terminal, it leverages the combined benefits of "Port + Free Trade + Bonded Zone" policies to deliver full-chain services for non-standard breakbulk of diverse categories and specifications, partnering with clients to build a broad breakbulk market, helping "Made in China" go global and offering a Chinese solution and Shandong-Port model for a more resilient global breakbulk supply chain.
Core Capabilities
Guided by "specialized equipment, processes, teams and services," the port operates 35 breakbulk berths (34 of them over 10,000 DWT and 2 dedicated offshore-equipment berths), with 9.72 million m² of warehousing and yard space, handling vessels up to 200,000 DWT directly berth-to-load with round-the-clock operations and efficient collection and dispatch. Its equipment fleet includes a 70-tonne ship-to-shore crane, a 500-tonne derrick crane and a full range of portal cranes, gantry cranes and specialized rigging. Mastering hundred-meter, three-layer wind-blade lifting, it provides premium "concierge-style" handling for single heavy-lift cargoes up to 500 tonnes in all sizes.
Global Network
Building a professional, all-purpose breakbulk terminal, Yantai Port has accelerated a network of 37 breakbulk routes reaching Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe — global coverage and global delivery. The network spans 200-plus cargo categories, from project materials, wind-power equipment and construction materials to machinery and vehicles, with a stable 35 sailings per month. In 2025 total breakbulk liner volume exceeded 16 million tonnes, placing the port in the national top tier. It has long remained China’s No.1 port for trade with Africa, the northern hub for Southeast-Asia breakbulk, and China’s northern maritime wind-power home port.
Port Areas
Zhifu Bay Port Area — “Centennial routes to Africa and Asia.” Integrating quality shipping, trade and logistics resources, it builds the China-Africa and China-India liner "Sea Express" brand, gathering cargo from all directions and routing across five continents.
Longkou Port Area — “One port, three routes.” Home to the busiest North-East Asia route in the world, it serves 150-plus cargo categories with annual throughput up to 3 million tonnes; through a multifunctional China-Africa logistics and trade platform its routes reach 10-plus African countries, with South-American routes accelerating.
Penglai Port Area — “Powered by wind, connecting the world.” It has formed a one-stop, sea-going business model for the full wind-power supply chain — towers, blades, main units and accessories — and launched China’s first Far-East breakbulk route and Shandong’s first Caribbean breakbulk route, linking 20-plus countries worldwide.
Partnership
“Those who share a purpose are never separated by mountains or seas.” Shandong Port Yantai warmly invites friends from around the world to visit, negotiate and cooperate with sincerity, mutual benefit and shared success — creating greater value for clients and contributing Shandong-Port strength to smarter, more efficient and smoother international breakbulk transport.
